The most scenic piece of the valley lies between the towns of Cochem and Bernkastel-Kues. Most of the nation’s famous port wine comes from the terraced vineyards that line the river, and you’ll sail past plenty of them on our river cruises. They start and stop in Portugal’s second-biggest city, Porto – where the Douro spills out into the Atlantic Ocean – and drop anchor in cosy villages and towns, like Entre-os-Rios and ...
